brand: Boilerplate

Canonical descriptive text about ELIXIR-UK. Use these paragraphs verbatim wherever you need a standard description – press releases, partnership pages, grant proposals, conference programmes, email signatures, footers. Don’t rewrite them inline; if a paragraph needs to change, change it here so every downstream copy stays in sync.

One-line description

For footers, email signatures, brief mentions and metadata fields where space is tight.

ELIXIR-UK is the UK Node of ELIXIR, the European research infrastructure for life science data.

Short description

For partnerships, programmes, conference programmes and anywhere a sentence or two will do.

ELIXIR-UK is the UK Node of ELIXIR, the European research infrastructure for life science data. It connects UK life science data services, training and community engagement to the wider ELIXIR network.

Press release boilerplate

The standard “About ELIXIR-UK” paragraph that goes in the Notes to editors field on Press release posts. The text is built into the WordPress Press release template – it auto-populates when that category is selected, so contributors don’t fill it in by hand. See Writing a webstory for the contributor view.

Updating these texts

The descriptions above sit in two places: here (the canonical record) and in the live channels where they’re actually used. If any of them need updating:

  1. Edit this page first.
  2. Update the WordPress Press release template – the press-release boilerplate is built into the template, not into individual posts. Editing the template is what propagates the new wording to every future press release.
  3. Flag the change to anyone maintaining external partner pages, slide decks or signature blocks that quote the old version.
